These are some common expressions to ask for directions in English in a city

 Start off at the main entrance.  Go straight on / to the end.
Go downstairs/upstairs to the ground/first/second floor. go along/across the hall/corridor.

Take the lift/elevator/escalator/stairs. At the end of the hall, make a left
